Skittles Orchards

I went to the corner store to get a Red Bull. As I was standing in line to pay for it, I noticed a pack of Skittles in an unfamiliar package color. An unfamiliar package color can only mean one thing: a new flavor lineup of Skittles. I snatched up the dark green bag and discovered new Skittles Orchards. All the candies are flavored like fruits that grow on trees. There’s Cherry, Red Apple, Orange, Peach, and Lime. Orchards is a pretty apt name for them. Cherry is tart. Red Apple is crisp tasting. Orange is the same Orange that you know and love from Skittles Original. Peach is sweet. And Lime is sour. I’m glad they brought back Lime Skittles. I missed those fuckers. Skittles Orchards are a welcome addition to the Skittles family. I tasted the rainbow, I encourage you to do the same.

Skittles Desserts

It’s always a good day when you discover a new type of Skittles. Yesterday I discovered Skittles Desserts and my life is a little bit better now. Skittles Desserts have intriguing flavors like Key Lime Pie, Orange Créme, Raspberry Sorbet, Strawberry Milkshake, and Blueberry Tart. Key Lime Pie tastes kind of limey, but not key lime pie-y. Orange Créme tastes like orange crème. Strawberry Milkshake tastes like strawberries and cream. Raspberry Sorbet is sweet, sour, delicious, and the best flavor in the pack. Blueberry Tart definitely tastes like blueberries. All in all, Skittles Desserts is a pretty solid offering and it will satisfy your sweet tooth. It’s not the best type of Skittles but it’s not the worst. Try them. You might just find that you have a new favorite candy.

Skittles Darkside

With all this talk about Disney buying Lucasfilm and making new Star Wars movies, it only seems fitting that Skittles released a new flavor variety called Darkside. Now you can taste the other side of the rainbow with sophisticated flavors like Dark Berry, Pomegranate, Blood Orange, Midnight Lime, and Forbidden Fruit. I’m just relieved they didn’t get rid of Lime Skittles; they just changed its bedtime. I like most of the flavors except for the Blood Orange. Maybe it will grow on me, but for now I hate it more than anything and I never fucking exaggerate ever. Darkside is a welcome member to the Skittles family, try them out, look for the purple packaging.

Skittles Original, Now with Green Apple

I know I’ve written about Skittles before, but now there’s a new flavor: Green Apple. It’s green and it tastes like a sour Granny Smith green apple. They had to get rid of the Lime flavor to make room for it. They can’t have two green ones in the same bag, that would be ludicrous. It tastes good, but I’m kind of peeved. I didn’t know that there was an Anti-Lime Skittle movement. Why didn’t they get rid of Grape? If you’ve been looking for an excuse to buy candy, a new flavor Skittle is perfectly valid. What an exciting time to be alive.

Sour Skittles

How do you improve everyone’s favorite rainbow colored bite-sized fruit chews? By adding a shit ton of sugar and calling them Sour Skittles of course. I lied; Sour Skittles aren’t an improvement on the Original Skittles. All that extra sugar makes your teeth hurt more and doesn’t do anything to enhance the flavors. You have the classic Skittles: Grape, Lime, Lemon, Orange, and Strawberry, but each one is made slightly sour with an excessive sugar coating. Sour Skittles are ok every once in a while, but all the other varieties of Skittles are better.

Skittlebrau

One of the many zany things that the Simpsons have brought to the world is Skittlebrau, the beer that has candy floating in it. Apu said it doesn’t exist and that Homer probably imagined it, but it inspired me to try it. People add slices of fruit to beer all the time, so why not add fruit candy? Skittlebrau works best with lagers; IPAs and Ales are too hoppy to taste the rainbow. I don’t float the Skittles in the beer, that would be a waste of Skittles and beer. Instead I pop a few Skittles in my mouth and wash it down with a swig or two. It gives the beer a fruity flavor. It actually improves the taste if you are drinking a swill beer or a forty. Skittles and beer go hand in hand. Skittles are good. Beer is great. Good + Great = Amazing.

Skittles Riddles

I was just saying the other day that the U.S. as a whole simply doesn’t have enough varieties of Skittles. And then my prayers were answered when I saw these. I should have asked for world peace, but I’m an American, and candy is more appealing. The gimmick with Skittles Riddles is that the colors and the flavors don’t match up. So a blue Skittle could be Apple, Watermelon, Strawberry, Punch or Raspberry. That is way too much excitement for me. I just want to eat and enjoy my candy, not try to solve a mystery that I don’t give a fuck about.

Skittles Crazy Cores

Pop quiz, hotshot: what’s better than a Skittle with just one flavor? A Skittle with two flavors of course, you dumbass. Crazy Cores are Skittles with a flavored candy shell with another flavored core inside. Don’t worry, the flavors aren’t too crazy. Maybe a little wild, but not crazy. It comes in Strawberry Watermelon, Mango Peach, Cherry Lemonade, Melon Berry and Blue Raspberry Lemon. Pretty tasty, not too crazy, but definitely not tame.

Skittles Original

Taste the Rainbow. Compare it to Skittles. Skittles taste better right? And who eats rainbows? Gay Unicorns. That’s beside the point. Skittles are the OG fruity chewy bite-sized candies. If you are ever in doubt what candy to bring to the movie theater, you can’t go wrong with a pack of Skittles. They look a little like M&Ms but they have an “S” and not an “M” on them. S&M… just realized that. Maybe we can make t-shirts of that, anyone down? They have a few standard flavors: strawberry, orange, lemon, lime, and grape. Skittles rock, I can’t imagine my childhood without this essential candy.

Skittles Blenders

The classic fruity chewy bite-sized candies get a flavor upgrade – a crazy blended fruit flavor upgrade. They have interesting names like Strawberry Lime Blast, Melon Berry Burst, Watermelon Green Apple Freeze, Mango Lemonade Freeze and Cherry Tropicolada. I don’t know what Mad Food Scientist came up with those stupid names. Melon Berries sound like something Willy Wonka would invent. How are room temperature candies being called Freeze? And Tropicolada is too much of an extreme hybrid pun, it is way too clever for me. If you like Crazy Core or Wildberry Skittles you will like the Blenders.
