Ben & Jerry’s New Belgium Salted Caramel Brown-ie Ale

I like beer. I like ice cream. Ben & Jerry’s New Belgium Salted Caramel Brown-ie Ale combines the two. They use New Belgium Brown Ale ice cream and combine it with fudge brownies and salted caramel swirls. I was expecting to get a slight whiff of beer when I took off the lid, but it just smelled like normal ice cream. Well, I’ve never really smelled ice cream before but it didn’t seem to have much of an aroma at all. I took a spoonful and put it in my mouth. My first thoughts were that it was smooth and creamy and not much else. I took another bite, and then another, trying to find a distinguishing flavor, but there really isn’t one. It doesn’t taste like a brown ale at all. It’s bland. I can taste the caramel and brownies, but the New Belgium Brown Ale ice cream is more boring than vanilla. I was expecting an ice cream that tasted like beer. I just got ice cream. Meh. It’s a limited batch. It’s going away soon. Good.

Ben & Jerry’s Party

I had yesterday off. My roommate did too. So did his girlfriend. We all work in the restaurant industry. The fact that we all three of us had the same day off was a miracle. We celebrated by playing cards in the park while sipping on beer on wine, followed by a nice sushi meal, and we topped it off by buying several pints of Ben & Jerry’s. That’s right. We had an impromptu Ben & Jerry’s party. If you’re not jealous, there is something wrong with you. We got Coffee Toffee Bar Crunch, Americone Dream, half baked, and Cherry Garcia. That’s a pretty nice variety. Sure we could have gotten more, but there were too many decisions and we had too little time. We chose what we chose and I have no regrets.

We brought the pints home, we opened them up, we took a picture to post on social media, and we dished them out, devoured them, and went back for seconds. We made gluttons of ourselves. Food comas all around. It was glorious. It was like Thanksgiving. We all had to lie down after. We all went to bed early. The best part was that it wasn’t planned. It couldn’t be. If I told you that we should have a Ben & Jerry’s party soon, we would look at our calendars and plan it for Tuesday next week. Tuesday would roll around and we wouldn’t be in the mood for ice cream. We would postpone it, and postpone it, and postpone it again. It would never happen. It has to be spontaneous. We had a spontaneous Ben & Jerry’s party. I consider myself lucky.

Ben & Jerry’s Karamel Sutra Core

Karamel Sutra Core is another gourmet ice cream from Ben & Jerry’s. It’s chocolate ice cream, caramel ice cream, fudge chips, and a soft caramel core in the middle. To put it lightly, it’s rich. It’s too rich. The chocolate ice cream is creamy and heavy. The caramel ice cream is sweet and smooth. The fudge chips add crunch and texture but add to the overall sweetness. And the caramel core is almost too much. This is the type of ice cream that you take a spoonful of and stop eating because you feel guilty about all the starving kids in China. Then you take another spoonful and think about all the starving kids in Africa. Then you take another spoonful and say fuck it. There might be starving kids, but there’s no way that they’d appreciate this ice cream as much as you do. This isn’t the best flavor in Ben & Jerry’s Core Lineup, but it’s possibly the most indulgent and excessive.

Ben & Jerry’s That’s My Jam Core

Ben & Jerry’s recently released their line of Core ice creams, which are ice creams with an inner core of fudge, caramel, or jam. This way you always get the perfect spoonful of ice cream. That’s My Jam is chocolate and raspberry ice creams with fudge chips and a raspberry jam core. It tastes even better than it sounds. The chocolate ice cream is rich and creamy. The raspberry ice cream is sweet and smooth. The fudge chips give it a little texture and gives you an extra chocolatey kick in the mouth. The jam is soft, sticky, slightly sour, and it spreads easily to get the perfect swirl on your spoon. I generally prefer fruit flavors over chocolate, but this is a perfect medley of the two. This is a great ice cream and an amazing treat. Ben & Jerry’s Core lineup is the greatest innovation in ice cream technology since the invention of Dippin’ Dots.

Ben & Jerry’s Hazed & Confused Core

Ben & Jerry’s recently released new ice cream flavors that they dubbed Cores. They are called Cores because they have a core of fudge, caramel, or jam. It’s pretty brilliant idea, now you can have a perfect spoonful of ice cream every time. I bought a pint of Hazed & Confused Core as soon as I discovered them at the store. Hazed & Confused is chocolate and hazelnut ice creams with fudge chips and a hazelnut fudge core. The chocolate ice cream is smooth and rich, the hazelnut ice cream is creamy and nutty, the fudge chips add a little bit of crunch and texture, but the hazelnut fudge core steals the show. It’s basically a column of Nutella right smack in the middle of your pint. It’s beyond delicious. It’s indescribable how amazing this ice cream is. You have to try it. Like right now. Stop reading about Ben & Jerry’s Hazed & Confused Core and go buy a pint for yourself. You shan’t regret it.

Ben & Jerry’s Karamel Sutra

Ben & Jerry’s Karamel Sutra is a core of soft caramel surrounded by chocolate and caramel ice creams and fudge chips. If that sounds intense, it is. It’s super rich and the caramel core is a big glob of sugary glop. It is extremely chocolately and caramely. In case you didn’t know it is named after the Kama Sutra, a delightful ancient Indian children’s story. It’s actually a sex book, making this flavor a very sexy pun. Props to Ben and his pal Jerry.

Ben & Jerry’s Stephen Colbert’s Americone Dream

Ben & Jerry’s presents this vanilla ice cream with fudge covered pieces of waffle cone and swirls of caramel. The fudge coating keeps the cones nice and crispy. This is a very sweet and delicious ice cream with a nice crunchy texture. All in all, it is a good frozen treat. The American Dream might be dead, but this is an adequate substitute.

Ben & Jerry’s Banana Split

Banana and strawberry ice cream with walnuts, fudge chunks and fudge swirls. Seriously though, two different fruity ice cream flavors would be awesome enough, but throw in the crunch and chew that the fudge and nuts give, and you have an amazing texture. This tastes like a banana split. That’s what they were going for, so kudos to them.
