SolarPuff

A few weeks ago I wrote an article about camping lanterns and mentioned that I have a solar powered lantern that only works during the daytime. I kind of lied. I really do have a solar powered lantern, but it really does work at night. It works really well at night in fact. It’s called SolarPuff, and it’s one of those rare Kickstarter success stories. It’s a portable compact LED solar lantern. It’s flat until you pull it open to form a cube shape. It even has a handle for your convenience. Then you press the button to turn it on. It has three settings. There’s bright, brighter, and strobe so you can get your rave on. Eight hours of sunlight is enough to provide eight to twelve hours of light. I don’t know much about the laws of thermodynamics, but I’m pretty sure that they achieved the impossible. I’m witnessing a miracle every time I turn it on. I let my roommate borrow it when he went camping and he loved it. He could not stop talking about how awesome it was. Like seriously every conversation was about how cool SolarPuff lanterns are. Morning, noon, and night he was talking about SolarPuff lanterns. He was obsessed about it. My girlfriend bought him one of his own to shut him up. He sits in his room basking in its glow every night, murmuring under his breath all the perks and benefits of the solar inflatable light cube known as the SolarPuff.

Bluetooth Speakers

In the age of iPhones and iPads it’s important to have some Bluetooth speakers in your arsenal. That way you can enjoy listening to music or watching Netflix anywhere. The whole world becomes your living room. I remember having portable speakers for my Discman back in the day. They were horrible. They were big and bulky, required a couple of AA batteries that would drain out in less than three hours, and you had to plug them into the headphone jack. Flash forward a decade and we now have Bluetooth speakers, which are small and sleek, with a built-in rechargeable battery, and connect wirelessly. I got a Bluetooth speaker as a gift a year or so ago. It couldn’t have cost more than twenty bucks, but it’s awesome. It sounds great. I bring it to the beach, to the park, and on camping trips. It’s a portable party that fits in my pocket. And it has a suction cup so I can stick it to my forehead and literally not miss a beat. Plus it makes me look cool. I included a picture below if you don’t believe me.

Space Heaters

If you’re cold and too cheap to turn on the furnace, space heaters are a great alternative. These are portable heaters that you can take from room to room. You just plug it into the wall, turn it on, and it starts to warm up instantly. They are more practical than lighting a fire and are much safer if you don’t have a fireplace. It’s nice to be warm in the winter, just like it’s nice to be cold in the summer. The grass is always greener on the other side, right?
