Words with Friends

Words with Friends is a mobile multiplayer word game for smartphones and tablets. It’s basically like Scrabble in that you get tiles with letters on them, you use those tiles to spell out words, trying to maximize your points by strategically placing your tiles. It was first released in 2009, and it was one of the top mobile games of 2010 and 2011. That’s when I used to play it. I was pretty addicted for a solid six months. Then I got bored of it and deleted it and forgot about it for years. You might be wondering why I am suddenly talking about Words with Friends after such an extended hiatus.

Well, you can blame Debbie for that. Debbie is a friend from work and she just discovered the game because she lives under a rock. And Debbie decided to challenge me to a game. And I decided to accept her challenge because I’m a sucker. And now I’m addicted again. I challenged another friend to a game and I started another game against the computer. It’s only been a few hours but I’m already regretting my decision. Once an addict, always an addict. Fuck you, Debbie.

Copasetic

Copacetic is a great word. I think people should use it more. It has a great sound. Say it. Say copacetic. Say it slowly. Co-pa-set-ic. See how nicely it rolls out your mouth? Isn’t that fun? I could say copacetic all day. Not only does it sound good, it has a positive definition. If something is copacetic, it means that it’s completely satisfactory. For instance, copacetic is a copacetic word. It means that everything is good, that you’re perfectly content with it. You want things to be copasetic. Life is a lot harder to deal with when things are going uncopacetically. My spellcheck says that uncopacetically isn’t a real word, but I don’t care. I’m going to make it one. I’m sure it will catch on if I say it enough.

Googleable

Googleable is a perfectly valid word that has yet to become approved and officially a part of the English language. It’s a word that relates to how effectively you can search for something on Google. For instance, asking what Googleable means is Googleable, but the meaning of life is not Googleable because nobody knows the meaning of life (and even if they did, they wouldn’t put in on Google, you have to find the meaning of life for yourself). CriticallyRated.com is Googleable, but you might have to search for a while before you find it. I don’t get how d’oh is in the real dictionary and how Googleable is only in the Urban Dictionary, but I don’t make the dictionary; I just use it to correct other people’s spelling. The only way to make Googleable an official word is to have everyone start using it. Together we can change the dictionary and change the world.

The Letter “A”

The letter “A” might just be the most important letter in the English Language. “E” might be the most used letter, but you can’t even begin learning your ABCs without first mastering “A”. In fact, if you can’t grasp, comprehend, or understand the concept of “A”, then you have no business learning English. “A” is one of the few letters that is also a word. It’s an important word too. There’s a big difference between a girl and the girl. “A” kicks off the alphabet, it’s a vowel, it’s a word, it’s symmetrical, it’s what the smart kids want to get in school… it’s a pretty impressive letter that we use all the time. Benjamin Franklin invented the letter “A” for the US constitution, and it’s had a lasting impact on a global scale.
